Personal History[]
Marty was born on June 19, 1945 to Martin and Amelia Gentz in Tupelo, MS. In 1966, Marty began wrestling in the Tupelo office of the CWA. Considered nothing more than a jobber, he quickly left the ring as a wrestler and began refereeing. He wrestled from 1966-1972 and refereed in Tupelo’s CWA from 1972 until 1978 when Arnold Adams offered him the position of head referee. Gentz continued as the MVW’s head referee until his death in 1998. He suffered a heart attack during the main event on the October 1, 1998 card in Oxford. He was pronounced dead just after midnight the next morning.
