A Lumberjack match comes historically from the Pacific Northwest/Canadian lumberjack camps. When the lumberjacks had a dispute among themselves, the rest of the lumberjacks would form a ring around the combatants to throw one back into the fight should he/she try to leave. In MVW matches, the rest of the wrestlers on the card stand around the ring to throw wrestlers back in once they leave the ring.
